Important: Customization is a special paid feature that must be enabled before it is used.
As an example, we will define a "Rule" that triggers whenever a ticket is created, and adds a new field to the ticket submission form that your drivers are allowed to edit.
1. Navigate to https://portal.truckit.com/dashboard
2. Click the Settings icon.
3. Click "CUSTOMIZATION"
4. Click "CREATE NEW RULE"
5. Click the "Rule Name" field and fill it in.
6. Click "Rule Object" and select one option from the drop-down list.
Tip: We could have also defined a Rule for the 'Sites' object, which would create a new field for each created Site, but during the course of this guide, we will continue adding our rule for the Ticket object.
7. Click "Related Object Type" and select the option from the drop-down list.
Tip: The Related Object exists so that you can filter your rules to specific Sites. For example, I could define a Rule that will only trigger for tickets created that match a particular site tag. For now, we'll let our rule fire for every ticket.
8. Click "Trigger Event" and select the option from the drop-down list.
9. Click "Action" to view the drop-down list and select an option.
Tip: In the prior steps, we defined the conditions under when a Rule should be triggered. In the next step, we will define what that Rule should do.
10. Click "Set Custom Variable" (now called "Set Custom Field").
11. Click "SAVE"
To Recap: We have created a rule that triggers with every new ticket, and the rule simply creates a variable/field.
12. Click "ADD VARIABLE" (now called "ADD FIELD").
13. Select a Variable/Field from the drop-down list.
14. Click "SAVE"
Tip: Now, we will choose what different kinds of users can do with this variable/field.
15. Click on the drop-down list under each type of user.
16. Assign the permissions to each kind of user accordingly.
